(SIGH) This figures....

I spent the day further exhausting myself by running errands for my parents and my el preggo daughter. Clarissa, we found your queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic bed, you pregnant diva you. I almost went to sleep on it, right in the store. The Sears salesperson was not amused. Anyway, a friend posted this personality test on his blog, and I thought, well, I need a bit cheering up. I'll take the test. Sheesh. Great, just great. I'm Miss Piggy. "Never eat more than you can lift." That's just what I needed to read tonight. Anyway, there has be another one of these dumb tests out there that aren't so depressing. If anyone knows of one, let me know!

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.
You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

LOL! Thank you, God's Own Child! This survey was hilarious for me, for several reasons. But I'll post my results now:

As Marianne's older sister, Elinor lives at the other end of the emotional spectrum. She rarely reveals her intense feelings and is more concerned with being honest and loyal than having what she deserves. Even though her intentions are pure, she sets herself up for loss by constantly placing other people before her own needs. Overall, Elinor is gentle and rational but is just as capable of radical emotions (despite her withholding them) as her sister.
href='http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=6806N'>Which Jane Austen Character are You? (For Females) Long Quiz!!!

I received my Bachelor's degree in English, and there were only two classes that I absolutely loathed--Early American Literature (no one in the country could write until the 19th century, as far as I was concerned), and the romantic novels of Jane Austen and the Bronte' sisters. Wait...I hated the novel "Clarissa", too. But I can't remember who wrote it.

Another irony--my oldest daughter is named Clarissa, although she wasn't named for that novel. I didn't want to call her "Clara" after my ex-husband's beloved grandmother, so I settled for Clarissa.

Anyway, I hated reading Austen. I have no idea who the character Elinor Dashwood is or why I am like her. I had to read "Pride and Prejudice" and somehow survived through half of the book before viciously tossing it across my bedroom. I refused to read one more page of that drivel. Professor Tanaka said, "But Angela, it's hilariously ironic. Don't you see the humor and irony in the text?

No. I didn't. Thank God the good professor had mercy on me that semester, and let me make up the "F" I took for refusing to write an essay about the book. I can get stubborn like that sometimes!

As far as putting other people's needs before my own, man...I thought I had solved that problem! I mean, I spent years in therapy and Al-Anon!

LOL that she got a new bed! I spent my first pregnancy on a $99 futon and I wanted to die by the last month...so uncomfortable! I wanted to burn it afterwards. Finally got a new bed before pregnancy #2! :)

wow. very interesting to see my li'l comment unearthed so much! Also to hear someone call a favorite of mine, a drivel! From what you say, you sure don't sound like gentle Ms.Dashwood ;-)
Just a little trivia... The dashwoods are from Sense and Sensibility.

Though I love Austen, I'm with you re Bronte. They're so tiring!!!

oh btw, this is still god's own child with a different nom de plume!

Liz,

You slept on a FUTON while pregnant! Wow...I bow down to you, oh goddess of great courage and strength! :) I did sleep on the floor for the first three months of pregnancy with my first child (the pregnant diva, who just left my house after driving me nuts for the past few hours), and I had to get a bed. Futons and floors are not sufficient sleeping arrangements for pregnant women!

Girl of Destiny:

Sorry about the Austen comments. I know a lot of people love her, including a woman who lives near me who painted scenes from "Pride and Prejudice" in watercolors. Her entire living room is a tribute to Jane Austen. I just shook my head when she showed it to me. I just don't get it! Anyway, it's just something I'll never be able to fathom. Austen is a completely different type of woman, one that this eternal tomboy has no way of understanding her or her world.

On the plus side, if I were given a choice (at gunpoint), I would read Jane Austen before Terry McMillan any day. "Pride and Prejudice" would become an absolute page-turner for me!

So, Ms. Elinor Dashwood is a gentle woman? You're right, that doesn't sound like me at all! LOL!
